The Opportunity for Urban Wind
Building's account for 40% of the world's energy use, yet, nearly 3/5 of the US's buildings are located in areas with sufficient average annual wind speed of 10 MPH or higher. The opportunity to harvest rooftop wind resources for on-site distributed energy generation is evident and the market is quickly taking shape.

To reach ambitious renewable energy and climate goals, cities across the country from San Francisco to New York have commissioned studies to assess the potential of urban wind generation. City-owned demonstration turbines are being installed on community landmarks and planning committees are revising zoning and building codes to facilitate the permitting process for small wind turbines. Financial incentives at the federal and state level also promise to bring substantial growth to the urban wind market.
